Intro

Hey there, I’m Carlos. As a student, I’m a cybersecurity initiate, love the process of building projects, such as this site, and tearing them down to iteratively fortify our digital realm. I studied Computer Science and Math at the University of British Columbia, diving deep into theory, but I’ve been expanding further into the practical side on my own.

What started with Capture the Flag (CTF) challenges has grown into exploring networking, cloud security, and filling my homelab with Raspberry Pi experiments. Beyond my work, I’m driven by Carl Sagan’s philosophy of discovery, there truly is always something new to uncover. I’m happy you discovered me today.

Work

Alongside my studies, I worked with cybersecurity company RSec, where I helped DevOps teams strengthen their security postures. It’s given me the chance to connect and learn from CISOs and IT leaders, and be part of how organizations protect their data.

On my own time, I create and destroy for the sake of learning, I am currently studying through the CompTIA triad (A+, Network+, Security+) and always looking for harder challenges in the future. I continuously hone my skills and knowledge, by testing myself through rigorous certifications, participating in coding challenges with friends, and creating new projects.

As I said, I’m always learning, so I’ve recently begun a Medium blog to keep progress of my own improvements, set up new goals for the future, and walk through my cybersecurity journey alongside anyone that decides to join.
